About The Job

American Airlines’ IT Airport Technology department is looking for an innovative, energetic, team oriented Agile Application Development Team Lead. The successful candidate will act as a Project Lead for multiple IT projects and initiatives in support of development of applications in the area of Baggage and Ramp Technology. The Project Lead must interact with internal and contract development resources, AA business organizations, airport leadership, and AA IT and vendor organizations to develop and deliver projects and has primary responsibility for the quality of the project's deliverables and its successful completion.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Application Development Lead for multiple projects, working in collaboration with a diverse group of business and technology partners to identify potential business and innovative technology solutions

  • Primary remover of road blocks for the team

  • Plan and facilitate all agile ceremonies, monitor team velocity, burn down, burn up charts, report KPI etc. Be a strong agile advocate resulting in optimal ROI for the business.

  • Collaborate with business units to define the project scope, timeline, and business case justification, estimate effort and funding needs, and submit requests for project approval

  • Create plans and coordinate project activity specifying goals, strategy, identification of risks, and contingency plans

  • Escalates significant issues or risks to appropriate levels of management

  • Coordinates recruitment of project personnel and assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project team.

  • Facilitates team sessions to ensure user story criteria are documented and delivered on time with the best possible quality

  • Provides project status communication to stakeholders

  • Pro-actively manages project financials and timelines

  • Troubleshoot technical issues

  • Recommend software solutions and review and provide input to architecture on designs

  • Contribute to code reviews and improvement recommendations

  • May have to do some development or system configurations

  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or other technical field required

  • At least 5 years of software development experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge and practical experience using the SDLC methodology

  • Knowledge and experience leading and working on Agile teams

  • Experience leading requirements gathering and requirements documentation

  • Proven track record that demonstrates the ability to analyze and solve complex business issues

  • Ability to build strong project teams and working relationships

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to understand technical development projects, and work closely with a highly skilled technical team

  • Relevant experience with current technologies in a client server environment

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and experience working with multiple business partners, technical teams and all levels of management

  • Knowledge of and experience using MS Project a strong plus

  • Knowledge of airline industry a strong plus

  • Experience using Rally tool a plus

  • Sabre knowledge a plus
