About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology Team, within the Information Technology Division. The Midrange Service Delivery Application Support team is responsible for hosting and supporting a variety of applications at American Airlines. Duties include working with development and engineering teams to deploy new or update applications, assist in troubleshooting applications when impacted, and maintenance of hosting environments. Midrange Service Delivery Application Support team is active in many areas of technology including Windows, *nix, load balancing, and IBM Notes. This position is responsible for collaborating with application owners and responding to incidents affecting supported applications.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Supports complex systems and applications in Stage and Production environments, through all phases of deployment

  • Maintains and configures infrastructure tools to monitor and manage the Production environment

  • Accepts escalation of technical problems from other teams and works to resolve issues

  • Identifies and implements improvements to the process, procedures, documentation, and systems

  • Other duties and project related work as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • 4 years previous experience supporting applications in a production environment

  • 3 years previous experience with web hosting in IIS or Tomcat

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years previous experience supporting applications in a production environment

  • 4+ years previous experience with web hosting in IIS or Tomcat

  • Airline experience and knowledge a plus

  • Proven ability to efficiently diagnose an issue, as well as propose and implement a solution

  • Ability to draft and formalize technical documentation

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as accuracy and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of server hardware, operating system, and application monitoring

  • Experience with managing server networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, firewalls)

  • Experience with account and rights assignments

  • Experience creating scripts in a professional environment

  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups

  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
