About The Job

​This job is a member of the Finance Team within the Finance Division. Responsible for timely and accurate processing of assigned employee payroll checks including collection, review, input, edit, output and verification of payroll data.

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Processes outside department timekeeping data accurately by the required deadline

  • Consistently applies company policy and government regulations to all processing

  • Reviews audit reports for processing errors and requests corrections as necessary

  • Researches employee questions and provides resolution, as dictated by company policy

  • Reviews contracts and applies special processing requirements to specialized workforce groups, such as unions

  • Organizes and maintains records to enable special processing that reduces the occurrences of incorrect payroll payments

  • Assists in special projects and testing of new processing systems

  • Provides training as needed

  • Communicates all discrepancies to payroll supervisor or department timekeeper as necessary in specialized processing and assigned projects, requiring more detailed knowledge of payroll procedures

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • ​High School diploma or GED equivalent or equivalent training/experience

  • 3-5 years of working in a high volume, multi-state payroll department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher preferred

  • Prior Canadian Payroll experience a plus

  • ​Familiarity with accounting principles relating to funds disbursements, payroll tax statutory requirements and payment regulations

  • Familiarity with garnishment processing

  • Use of analytical skills to identify and address potential issues

  • Ability to explain and interpret complex payroll information to employees at all levels of the organization
